The Netherlands or as it is more commonly referred to as “Holland” is a country which borders with Belgium and Germany and the North Sea to the north. It is a geographically low-lying country with about 20% of its area located below sea level which gives it its name. Nederland or “low countries” was home to the Dutch colonial empire which spread throughout the world and was administered by the Dutch East India Company and Dutch West India Company. The country gained great wealth trading on both frontiers and which led to major developments with its major cities.
Amsterdam is its capital city and the most populous and offers an impressive list of interesting sights and attractions to visit for groups. Its museums include the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and more. Anne Frank’s House is also located within the city and is very popular with groups. It’s famous nightlife also offers alternative attractions after dark which many cities find difficult to compete with.
