MediaCityUK Manchester is home to many companies but the BBC, who is also based here, offer tours of their studios and facilities. Your group will have the opportunity to see inside the BBC’s offices and studios where some of the BBC shows are created and walk in the footsteps of some of your favourite celebrities.

The BBC films programmes here such as Match of the Day, A Question of Sport, Mastermind, BBC Breakfast, CBBC, Blue Peter, BBC Sport, to name a few. The tour of the studios also includes a tour guide who will show you the most interesting places on-set and give you information on how TV and radio works. You can have a go as a newsreader or weather presenter in their interactive news and weather studio.

The BBC studios at MediaCityUK offers youngsters and primary schools an excellent chance to visit the sets of some of children’s favourite programmes like Blue Peter. The CBBC Interactive Tour lasts about 90 minutes and is extremely popular so contact us to check availability.

Example itinerary

Day 1

Morning: Departure from school and travel to Manchester.

Afternoon: Arrival in Manchester and admission to see the BBC MediaCity Studio Tour. See some of the famous sets and props used in your favourite BBC shows as well as information from industry experts relating to the Media & Film Studies. After the studio tour, your group can enjoy Manchester at their leisure.
Evening: Evening departure and transport back to school. End of Tour.

Imperial War Museum North- Manchester

One of five branches of the Imperial War Museum and the first to be located in the north of England. The museum overlooks the Manchester Ship Canal which was militarily significant during the World War II and thus sustained heavy bombing during the Manchester Blitz.

Manchester Town Hall- Manchester

This Neo-gothic municipal building in Manchester houses Manchester City Council was was completed in 1877. The building faces Albert Square and contains offices as well as a Great Hall.

National Football Museum- Manchester

This museum is dedicated to preserve, conserve and interpret several important collections of football memorabilia. The museum comprises of six levels with each one representing a different aspect of the beautiful game.

Old Trafford- Manchester

One of the most famous stadiums in the world located in Old Trafford, Great Manchester. It has been the site of some of the most memorable football matches ever and is the second largest stadium in the UK. Groups have access to stadium tours which will grant them otherwise normally restricted areas (subject to availability).

Museum of Science and Industry- Manchester

This large museum is devoted to the development of science, technology and industry in the city of Manchester. There are extensive displays on each area.
