D-Day Landing Beaches & Normandy

Take your group to see the historic sites of the Allied invasion of Normandy in the largest seaborne invasion in history. This tour aims to look into the Allied troop’s contribution to the invasion focusing on the British storming Pegasus Bridge and landing on Juno, Sword, and Gold Beaches. Our expert guides will talk you through the ordeals, hardships, and human toll which took place at these sites.

The tour also aims to examine America’s D-Day at the bloody Omaha Beach which is well documented in many war films such as “Saving Private Ryan”. The beach has many memorials as well as the Normandy War Museum and Overlord Museum with interesting artefacts and stories from this time.

Example itinerary

Day 1

Morning: Departure from your school and travel to Dover for English Channel crossing into France.

Afternoon: Arrival at accommodation and settling down period.

Day 2

Morning: Britain’s D-day landing beaches and Pegasus Bridge. Group visits the original bridge which saw the first fighting of the invasion at the Memorial Pegasus Museum.

Afternoon: Spend the afternoon visiting the British landing beaches of Sword Beach followed by Juno Beach and a chance to visit the Juno Beach Centre. Also, on this day the group visits Gold Beach where the heaviest casualties from British troops were suffered.

Evening: Evening return back to accommodation and overnight stay.

Day 3

Morning: After breakfast, travel to Omaha Beach to see the America’s D-day landing beach and a visit to the American Normandy Cemetery, Normandy War Museum and Overlord Museum.

Afternoon: Spend the afternoon in St Mere Eglise where American paratroppers descended upon the town during D-day and hear of the stories which took place during the invasion.

Evening: Evening return to accommodation and overnight stay.

Day 4

Morning: After breakfast, group checks-out of accommodation and travels to Calais for return crossing back into England.

Afternoon: Afternoon arrival back at school.

Juno Beach Centre
800px-Le_Souvenir_raniméThis museum located on Juno Beach is dedicated to the British and Canadian troops which landed here during the Allied Invasion. It has many films, interactive exhibits, audio clips, and collections from this battle. Visiting the museum also allows you to go and visit the bunker on the beach and lasts approx.. one hour.

American Cemetery and Visitor Centre
Cementerio_Americano_en_Omaha_Beach_(8067620027)Located on Omaha Beach, this immaculately kept cemetery is the resting place of almost 10,000 soldiers who were killed in action during the invasion. There is a chapel , memorial and “Garden of the Missing” honouring the memory of those who fell here.

Airborne Museum
The_Airborne_Museum_is_situated_on_the_church_square.Located in the picturesque town of Sainte- Mère-Eglise, this museum is dedicated to the paratroopers from the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions which took part in the invasion. Inside, you can find unique artefacts belonging to the men and learn of the fighting which took place the night of June 6th 1944.
