It is a religious satire musical based upon two missionaries who travel to Africa to share the Book of Mormon with the natives. The two struggle to connect with the people because other greater issues such as war, poverty, and famine dominate their lives.

Throughout its short history, it has already won many awards including 9 Tony Awards and 4 Laurence Olivier Awards including Best New Musical and Best Actor in a Musical.
